In this issue of our Employee Spotlight, we are learning more about Katie. She is not a recruiter but she is our HR superstar, taking care of everybody in the office. Let’s jump straight to it!

How long you’ve been at Capio now and what do you do here?

I’ve been at Capio for almost a year and I do everything in regard to HR, office management, and administration.

What’s your favourite part of your role?

My favourite part is working with Excel and data. HR is the right industry for me because I enjoy being analytical but also standing up for employees’ rights.

How would you describe the culture at Capio?

Very friendly, since day 1 I joined I felt like I’ve been here for ages. Full autonomy, no micro-management, and fun.

You are not a recruiter but you are surrounded by them so how can you describe that? Would you switch to recruitment?

I think recruitment is not for me. I respect recruiters because this job is so hard. But being surrounded by them is fun and interesting. I like hearing conversations sometimes because they are so friendly on the phone, they get to know candidates and clients.

Have you always been interested in HR?

Yes. The thing is I always wanted to work in an office environment and I built my career from sales to HR. I realised HR is my thing and I love it so much. You have the opportunity to create an amazing employee experience.

What HR tip would you offer to business owners when looking to hire?

I would say it’s very important to have a good HR platform. It’s a game-changer. You need someone with great Excel skills, haha, and also to keep track of everyone’s journey in the company.

Why should somebody join Capio?

Because you would meet a great bunch of people and learn a lot from one another. It’s a role with great benefits and training from scratch.

Any tips for non-recruitment staff working around recruiters?

Be ready for change and a fast-paced environment and definitely listen to recruiters for great stories.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Baking ANYTHING. I also love bringing some yummy treats to the office. Learning about space and science, also reading books.

We know you have a beautiful daughter. Can you tell us how being a mother can impact your work and what support should companies give to mothers?

It’s hard sometimes but Capio allows me to work 4 days a week and I take that day to stay with my daughter. When I work from home I have my daughter too with me so I start early and finish late because she requires attention. It’s so important for mothers to have flexibility and not be judged for it.

Tell us something about you we don’t know.

Once, me and my cousin roller-skated from our town in Poland to another town so roughly about 15 km one way and again back. We were like 15 and that was so fun to do during summer in the countryside.
